FIRE EDUCATION

Today the Preps were lucky enough to have a visit from some firefighters. We learnt about fire safety, what to do in case of a house fire and the importance of having a safe meeting place. We were also lucky enough to be shown a fire truck, crawl through the backseat and we even got to have a turn of using the fire hose! In the comment section, tell us about your favourite part of fire education.

Book week parade!
This morning we had our whole school book week parade- and Prep A definitely had a ball! Well done to everyone for putting in lots of effort in creating a fabulous costume based on a book character. We had Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter, Little Red Riding Hood, Spidermen, Captain America, Pongo from 101 Dalmatians and so much more! We loved being able to see our buddies in their costumes and to walk in the parade with them. Here are some photos from the day. In the comments section, tell us about your favourite part.

Book Week Parade

Next Monday 31st is the book week parade! I wonder if you have chosen your favourite book character yet, and who you might like to come dressed as? We have already had discussions in Prep A about coming as a fairy tale character as we have been reading lots of fairy tales this term. Please post in the comment sections below which book character you are thinking of coming as next Monday!

Study Ladder!

 Hi everyone,
Starting from this week, students will have the opportunity to go onto a website called 'study ladder' during our Reading groups. Students will complete literacy based activities that include a variety of reading and spelling strategies. During the week I will send home children's log on and password details and put them inside their yellow reading diaries. This will enable children to go onto studyladder from home to continue earning themselves points and to practice their learning in both Literacy and Numeracy at home!

Our Immersion day!

Today Prep A had a wonderful time during our Immersion session for our new Inquiry for this term. Our Inquiry this term is titled 'Hip Hip Hooray it's our 60th Birthday" with an emphasis on community celebrations: especially St. Mary's Parish 60th birthday. Today the children got to participate in a variety of celebration, fairy tale and measurement themed activities which reflects our writing of fairy tales and our measurement focus in mathematics. The kids had a ball! A big thank you to our parent helpers for recording our wonderings and for assisting with some of the activities. Our activities included: a gift wrapping station, play doh cake making, party invitation making, birthday party table, wedding dress ups corner, fairy tale costumes and castle and so many more!
