Our Immersion day!

Today Prep A had a wonderful time during our Immersion session for our new Inquiry for this term. Our Inquiry this term is titled 'Hip Hip Hooray it's our 60th Birthday" with an emphasis on community celebrations: especially St. Mary's Parish 60th birthday. Today the children got to participate in a variety of celebration, fairy tale and measurement themed activities which reflects our writing of fairy tales and our measurement focus in mathematics. The kids had a ball! A big thank you to our parent helpers for recording our wonderings and for assisting with some of the activities. Our activities included: a gift wrapping station, play doh cake making, party invitation making, birthday party table, wedding dress ups corner, fairy tale costumes and castle and so many more! View the slideshow below to see a selection of photos from the day.

Celebrating with our buddies

We had a lovely time being able to see our buddies on our 100th day of school last Thursday. Prep A had so much fun writing a letter with their buddies help, to themselves as a 100 year old! We certainly had some interesting letters that were written! Below are some pictures from our day. In the comment section, tell us about the best part about having a year 6 Buddy?

100 Days of School !

Today we celebrated our 100th day of Prep and what a great day it was! We came to school wearing our t-shirts that we had made by including 100 of our favourite things. Miss Walton was suitably impressed at the creativity and effort made by all in creating these fabulous t-shirts! Great job everyone! We created '100 Days Smarter' crowns in the morning by decorating them with sequins and glitter. We also got to spend some time with our buddies and they helped us to write a letter to ourselves as a 100 year old! Here are some photos and a slideshow from our wonderful day. In the comment section below, tell us about the favourite part of the day!

This week the school Art Show has been on during Wednesday and Thursday nights. Prep A's beautiful artwork has been displayed and all children should feel proud of their masterpieces. Here are our classes work being displayed at the show. The children got to choose their artwork from three pieces that they created during semester one. I hope you enjoyed it! In the comments section, tell us what you enjoyed about the Art Show. Did you like seeing your work on display?

We Planted Our Own Seeds.. Check them out!

Samuel planted beans. He has given his beans lots of water and sunlight! Look how much they have grown!

Sarah planted Marigold. She has also given her seeds lots of water and sunlight and you can see lots of little leaves!
Talia planted Poppy seeds. We can see lots of little roots and lots of green stems. Talia says she will keep giving her poppy lots of water and sunlight over the school holidays.
Adam planted peas. He has got lots of green shoots coming through the cotton wool. He has given his peas lots of sun and water!

All of the Prep A children have planted their own seeds. They are taking them home over the school holidays to continue looking after them. We would love to hear where you have put your seeds and what you are doing to help them grow!

SEEDS UPDATE!!!

Here are our seeds after lots of watering and caretaking.
This is what we notice:
CUP ONE:
- dark green
- lots of roots
-healthy
-long grass
-it has grown alot
- tall
- the sun has helped it grow because it has lived on the windowsill

CUP TWO:
-longest
- yellow
- white
- tall
- unhealthy

CUP THREE:
Cup three has not changed at all. It still has the seeds just as we put them in.

We think Cup Two has grown the tallest because it has been living in a cupboard under the windowsill. We think the cupboard must be really hot because the sun hits the wall that it is next to. Even though it is the tallest, we don't think it is the healthiest.
We all agree that we would much prefer to sit on or play footy on the grass that has grown in cup number one because it is soft and healthy and dark green.

We would love the hear what you think about our grass!
Which one do you think looks the healthiest?
Which one would you like to have a picnic on?
